Book #24 Animal Farm

Book #24, Animal Farm by George Orwell – listened to on unabridged audio book, read by Ralph Cosham. I almost put this book review on my political site, informedvoter2008.com, but decided to keep it here. So sad…and troubling.
I’m glad I never read this book in high school, although I’m not sure why it was never assigned. I’m glad because I would’t have read it. Just as I didn’t really read Their Eyes Were Watching God and I Know Why the Caged Birds Sing. I never could stomach assigned reading.
Clearly, this satire is very real – today, just as it was when Orwell wrote it. Not to get too preachy here, but this is such a good story to inspire people to vote and participate. I don’t want to be Boxer, never questioning my leadership, only toiling toiling toiling. I also don’t want to be Benjamin, always disgruntled, but not taking any action until it’s too late.
Highly recommended. The audio book was excellent…complete with English accent which made it all the more authentic.
