cake pops!

I found Bakerella.com through Bricolage and Butter. What a jackpot of riches! So I immediately ran out and got cake mix, candy melts and lollipop sticks. Can’t be too hard, right? Bakerella spells it all out!

Well…I thought making the pops was pretty easy, although time consuming. But since good things usually are, that’s no prob. My main problem was making the candy smooth. I think a second coat is the trick to that, but I wasn’t able to do one. My kid was waiting and waiting to decorate, so we just dove in with the bumpy cake pops.

He was a great little helper though - I definitely recommend this project for kids. Very fun! Here are my photos.

Hi! It’s Stephanie (friend of Alisha from lex). Anyway, she told me about your blog and I love it. I can’t sew, but it’s on my to do list to learn in the next 5 years when I no longer have a baby in the house. Feel free to check out my blog that I do mostly for the grandparents http://www.watchemmygrow.blogspot.com
oh and, one of my good friends that is super crafty made the cakepops for my shower.

Yay! Nice to ‘see’ you - it’s been a million years! I’m headed over to your blog now :) Oh, and I’ll add a link here.

Yay! You got a chance to bake them! How were they? Good seeing you this week…

Oh man - they are SUPER SUGARY! I could only handle eating half a cake ball without the candy coating! But my kid loves them - which I’m sure is terrible parenting. I sent most of them to work with my husband, and they were apparently a big hit :)

The cake balls came out lovely but I could never eat one! Your boy is adorable, though, and I am glad you are raising him not to be afraid of the kitchen! Good for you. By the way, looooved the camera straps.

Thanks Trudy :)
